Home Sleep Studies
Home Sleep study: A HST is a type of diagnostic polysomnography performed attended or unattended in the beneficiary’s home using a portable monitoring device with following given predominance:

• High probability of moderate to severe OSA
- » Daytime sleepiness
- » Loud habitual snoring
- » Witnessed apneas
- » Hypertension
- • No comorbid medical disorders
HST includes following types of sleep studies:
Type II sleep studies are performed attended by a sleep technician.
Type III and IV sleep studies may be performed attended or unattended by a sleep technician.
1. Level II: Type II device monitors and records a minimum of 7 channels: EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG/heart rate, air flow, respiratory movement/ effort and oxygen saturation.
2. Level III: Type III device monitors and records a minimum of 4 channels: respiratory movement/effort, airflow, ECG/heart rate and oxygen saturation.
3. Level IV: Type IV device Monitors and records a minimum of 3 channels that allow direct calculation of an AHI or RDI as the result of measuring airflow or thorocoabdominal movement.
